I have been teaching English to adults and teenagers from across the world since 2011. I enjoy watching my students make progress as they gain confidence in speaking. I also have international experience having worked in Tanzania, Ecuador, and China.

I hold a Master’s degree in TESOL from Concordia University in Portland and a Bachelor’s in Geography from UCLA. My love of teaching English stems from my love of learning other languages. Happily, I have become fairly fluent in Spanish, and have basic communication skills in French, Swahili, and Chinese.

When I am not teaching, you will probably find me rollerblading on the bike path at the beach. Exercising outdoors is my other passion, and it provides the balance I need to be a good teacher.

Vocabulary Teaching Project

As a graduate student, I completed a vocabulary teaching project for a language school in Ecuador.

Pillars of my Teaching

  1. Learning environment: As the architect of your learning experience, I listen to what you want, suggest what you need, and design a personalized study plan. From day one, I am supportive and work hard to gain your trust so that you can relax and realize your full potential.

  2. Student learning: I build on the positive learning environment with well-designed activities, which allow for individual styles. Rather than have one size fits all, I discover what works best for you. I assure progress is being made in our weekly and monthly reviews. Further confirmation comes from feedback after students use their knowledge in the real world.

  3. Self-improvement: As happy as I am with my methods and materials, I am always seeking to advance my teaching. Thus, I do research regularly, most recently in the area of AI and other technological tools.
